Spain 4 - 1 Russia
Let it be known that from now on I am also a fan of Spain’s national football (or soccer for you the unconverted) team. The underachiever they might be known as, but tonight they played as beautiful and brilliant piece of footballing I am lucky enough to watch. This match I will remember for a very, very long time.
Although I’ve read before on the BBC UK Sports that Spain has the material to be Euro 2008’s champions, I am still a little bit skeptical about it. But since tonight, I am a believer!! The passes, the assist and the level of play they’ve showed just plain awe inspiring, I almost cried watching them play. It was nothing short of magical.
David Villa is clearly the Man of the Match tonight, his performance is just amazing, also thanks to his hat-trick. Besides scoring, he also assisted in the making of the fourth goal. Overall, I am overjoyed being able to watch the match even though I have to plug in an external antenna to my TV in order to be able to watch.
It is almost time for the Greece vs Sweden match to start now, but remembering how I kept falling asleep during the Netherlands vs Italy game just after the second half started, I think I am going to sit this one out. I’ll check the result tomorrow morning from the office. The 5 hours difference can be double edged. Here the first match of the day started around 11:00PM and the second match started around 1:45AM in the morning.
Oh well, I better get some sleep now. I don’t want to miss the Czech Rep. vs Portugal’s match tomorrow night. I’m rooting for Portugal though, mainly because Cristiano Ronaldo is playing and I don’t get to see them play against Turkey last Saturday. See you tomorrow night for, hopefully, another great game.
