Not Just Another Bank Account

Cyber crime is rampant nowadays, and since more and more people is considering the web as an indispensable part of their life, myself included, more and more people are being the victim of it, and no one is invulnerable, not even a president.

You can imagine my surprise to read on CNN’s website that President Sarkozy’s bank account was hacked by thieves and that they managed to get a small sum of money from it. Can you imagine that? Not even a president of a big country like France is safe from cyber crime. I sure don’t want to be his bank account manager right now.

CNN doesn’t really go into the details, but from what I read, I assume that the theft was able to take place because monsieur president is doing online transactions which apparently is (or was) exploitable by high tech thieves. Now that’s a scary thought!

Since I am also a heavy user of online banking myself, this kind of news makes me wonder just how secure my bank account is. Are they doing enough to keep our bank accounts save from stuffs like this? I wish I know how the thieves managed to do it so I can take preventive measures.

Anyway, for now I think I better go and get some rest. See you around.
