It’s Raining Money

Or at least it is going to rain money. How is that possible? Apparently on June 1st 2008 at 8:30AM, one of Indonesia’s well known motivator persona, Tung Desem Waringin, will pour down money worth 100 million Rupiahs from a small Jabiru plane above the east parking area in Senayan Complex, Jakarta.

I’m kind of surprised when I read the news about it on one of the Indonesia’s most well-known Digital News Site Detik dot Com. Although the latest news stated that they haven’t got a permit yet from the Jakarta Metro Police Department. It is said that there is a possibility that the event could be postponed if they don’t get the permit in time. Read the rest of this entry »

Lunch Time Memories

One of the best things that I’ve ever experienced while working on my current office is the opportunity to have lunch in a nice restaurant. Usually it is me with my co-workers and my boss, and also with our customers. Depending on the customers, we could end up having lunch at a nice restaurant in a nice hotel, here in Jakarta.

I remember the second time we had lunch there I was not feeling very well, and because of that I didn’t enjoy the food as much as I wanted, which is a pity because the food choices were various and plentiful. And the quality is one of the finest I’ve ever tasted.

The food types ranged from Asian Food to European Food and they even have their own wine cellar. Although probably you couldn’t say that it was a cellar since it was only a room separated by transparent glass wall with wine racks lining the back wall. Read the rest of this entry »

Firstmedia - Affordable Internet in Jakarta

First Media’s HomepageIf you happened to read my previous post about internet connection in Indonesia which I wrote around 3 weeks ago, then you should’ve known that right now, I am using Fastnet internet service from Firstmedia. As of now, they own the only cable TV and internet network in Indonesia, they are also the first one to offer unlimited broadband internet with speed ranging from 384Kbps to 3Mbps, and not to mention a very reasonably priced internet service. As of now, they have the best price for internet service in Jakarta, Indonesia.

At Firstmedia, a 384Kbps unlimited internet connection is priced at IDR 99.000 (around USD 10) and that is as cheap an internet connection that you can find in Jakarta at the moment. But in order to subscribe to their internet service, they also require you to be a subscriber of their Cable TV service. With a basic plan priced at IDR 99.000 it brings their most basic plan of internet and cable TV service to a fee of IDR 188.000 (around USD 20) and that is in my opinion, the most reasonably priced internet connection in Jakarta at the moment. Internet Connection in Indonesia

Ever since I got acquainted with the Internet in 1997 an internet connection is a must for me, quite frankly because internet have become a way of living for me especially now that I have my own website. I’ve moved several times since then, so I got to use several different means of connection because not every option for an internet connection is available to me every time I moved. I have been using internet from dial up to broadband, from using standard modem to using cell phones.
