A Close Call
Last Tuesday I was taking care of several things at the office, although I am already taking my holiday leave since Monday. I got no choice since those things are located in and around my office and I need them done before Christmas Eve.
I was almost done and preparing to go back to go home after finishing the last of those things, when suddenly my wife called. She said that our neighbor told her that some of my roof tiles are broken. It must have been those wild cats that likes to fight on our rooftop.
Since it is the raining season, I must check the damage and make sure that rain won’t be able to penetrate through. Well, when I arrived back home and checked the damages, it appeared that we are not that lucky.
Some of the wooden frame that supported the roof is broken in several places. I need to do something fast before rain comes, or else the rain would penetrate through to our bedroom. Luckily we find several wooden frame that I can use to replace the old frames.
I got to tell you that it was a very tiring experience and that it scared me a lot. It was indeed a close call, because not long after I finished fixing the roof, the rain came heavily. At least I can rest easily for a while, but still I make myself a mental note to check up on the roof periodically.
At times like those I really wish that we are somewhere away on vacation, such as in Las Vegas Nevada. We are not THAT lucky I guess, but it was lucky enough for me since we can keep ourselves dry for the time being.
I also considered myself lucky that the damages wasn’t too severe, because I really doesn’t have much experience in fixing woodwork or broken roof. I got lucky as usual I guess. I better go to sleep now. Merry Christmas everyone!
