Around You

I have been riding a motorcycle for more than ten years since my early university days. Back then I was reckless and I’ve had my share of accidents. It was nothing serious usually, just some cuts and bruises. The worst thing that happened to me was a dislocated finger. It hurts so much and I still had to ride several kilometers to get to the hospital,

Anyway, I tried to ride carefully now knowing how dangerous it is to ride a motorcycle recklessly, but I realized that there are other dangers besides riding recklessly. One of those dangers is the polluted air in and around Jakarta, especially during the morning and evening rush hours. Read the rest of this entry »

Increase Your Skills

One of the good things about working in my current office is that they have this program where they sent their employee to seminars and training courses so that we can increase our knowledge and skill. I always enjoyed whenever my office sent me for seminars and trainings.

The topic for those seminars and trainings usually reflects our work and doesn’t stray too much from our background, except for some leadership trainings. Since I started working, I have had Cisco, Microsoft and several other trainings. Although my office did pay for the fees, we would have to pay for the exam fee (if any) ourselves. Avatar the Movie

Yesterday, I watched Avatar the movie for the second time. The first was several days before Christmas with my best buddy, the second time I went with my wife, my sis and my sis’ boyfriend. Thanks to my ma for taking care of the kids so that we may go and enjoy ourselves a little bit, it has been a while.

Both times we watched the 3D version of Avatar. I admit I was a little skeptic about 3D since the last time I remember watching something in 3D was using this glasses made of thick paper or carton with green and red plastic for the ‘lenses’. I don’t see any fun watching a movie wearing something like that.

I also remembered that before I go watch the movie for the first time, I heard one of my co-worker said that there was nothing special about the 3D effects. In the end I decided to go watch in anyway, since I want to watch that movie not because it is in 3D but because I want to see James Cameron’s grand project with my own eyes. A Flexible Way to Learn

I remember having distance learning as a topic for my final project in University, mostly a concept back then. Right now distance or online learning is not a concept anymore, with many institutions offering degrees and courses which can be taken either partially or fully online learning method.

Most of those institutions are an established school or universities, but some are offering their courses and degrees exclusively and entirely online such as the Western Governors University or WGU, which was founded on 1997 by 19 U.S Governors hence the name. Read the rest of this entry »

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Time sure flies… Suddenly it is Christmas again, and the end of the year is already in sight. Well actually it is New Year already now. It has been a while since I write anything here, and I really mean a while. It has been a month and a half since I wrote my last post, and I just realized it now.

Somewhere along my daily routine, I lost my will to write. It was only until recently that I managed to muster my will to write again. It could be that I just need a little time to cool off a bit. It is not easy to write a blog, I have to admit. There are a lot of things to write, but I just don’t feel like writing it down.

Anyway, I don’t want to dwell too much in the past. It is New Year already, time to review some of my personal goals from last year. I have several goals, but the one that I am most proud of is that I managed to lose around 22lbs of weight. The hardest part is to maintain the result, because I have gained half of that weight back mostly due to my lost of willpower.

I decided that this year I want to lose those 11lbs that I gained back, and some more. I just wish I have the persistence to see it through. I hope you all will find something great to achieve this year.
