Tonight, we was just returning from my mother-in-law’s place, where we spend the last two nights there. Usually we are only able to spend one night there, whenever we are visiting her during the weekends. This time the weekend is longer because this Monday is a holiday here in Indonesia.

It is the holiday festival of Idul Adha (Eid al-Adha), a Muslim holiday commemorating Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his only son Ishmael. Usually the Muslims in Indonesia also sacrifice an animal, usually goats and cows as a reminder of Ibrahim’s act of obedience to God.

Since this is a national holiday, usually the shopping centers and the recreational places are closed during the morning and will open more lately than usual. So we decided to spend the whole day in the house and just kept ourselves busy. Read the rest of this entry »
