Olympic Games Opening Ceremony Lip Synch

A couple of days ago I was just reading the BBC News site through the site’s feeds as usual when I read an article about the China Olympic Games Opening Ceremony. It said that a pretty girl who was singing at the ceremony was actually miming / lip synching.

The girl, Lin Miaoke, who is 9 years old, was chosen to sing because she was pretty, and the girl who actually sung, Yang Peiyi, who is 7 years old, was told that she cannot appear at the ceremony because she was deemed not as ‘presentable’ as Lin Miaoke.

I was shocked when I read about it. I mean, they are teaching these two kids that it is okay to accept such treatment and discrimination. Even if their parent didn’t initially agreed to do such thing, the question is did they have a choice in the matter? Read the rest of this entry »

Again, About Growing Pains… Is It Really?

I don’t quite remember correctly, but I remember writing about growing pains once. It is quite hard to tell now since I’ve been writing quite a number of posts. Last I checked it is around 90 posts overall. It was quite an achievement, quantity wise.

Although I have to admit that lately I feel as if I hadn’t written any good posts. It felt that my posts weren’t quite useful to those of you who kindly spare your time to read my writings. It is actually not that hard to come up with things to write on my blog.

But usually, the more useful the topic that I want to write, the more time I have to spend researching about that topic to make it worthwhile to you, and lately I am not persistent and motivated enough to do some serious writing and researching. Lately all I write is just casual writing which is easily written. Read the rest of this entry »

Feeling a Little Nostalgic

I still remember, although perhaps just vaguely, that when I was just a kid, my father was a member of the Indonesian Amateur Radio Organization. He used to spend a lot of time chatting in front of his radio equipment whenever he was home.

It was kind of fun hearing him chat with his friends. It was perhaps similar to what we used nowadays, the difference being in the medium used to chat. Nowadays we chat using computers as the medium, and we usually chat by typing what we want to say / express.

Using radio is somewhat different and perhaps a bit more intimate because we actually heard our friends voices coming from the speaker, and it also makes it harder to lie about our gender, where in today’s means of chatting that is by typing, it is easy to actually lie about your gender. Time To Grow Up

I still remember, although perhaps not quite as well about my school days. It was quite okay to be honest, although if I can go back in time and choose, I would choose a mixed school rather than the all-boys school that I went to.

I have to admit that I was a kind of shy back then in high school, and going to an all-boys school didn’t help too. I remember being clueless about girls during high school. Even when I was in University I was clueless still. Although there are other problems too, especially acne problems. Read the rest of this entry »

Something To Pass Time

Here I go, talking about mundane stuff again. Sometimes when I am bored playing games or blogging, I read Japanese Comic or Manga to pass time. There are several Manga that I like to read such as Naruto or Bleach. Yesterday I found another Manga that is actually quite fun to read.

The Manga title is Mahou Sensei Negima! by Ken Akamatsu. He is the same author that also created the Love Hina series. Mahou Sensei Negima! is a story of a 10 year old mage academy graduate who is tasked to be an English teacher in an All-Girls School in Japan where almost every student found him cute and adorable. Literally any adolescent boy dream come true. Read the rest of this entry »
