The Amazing Story of Paul Potts
Just a couple of hours ago, I was calling my sister who is studying abroad. We were exchanging news and stories when she asked me whether I have heard about Paul Potts or not. Since I really haven’t heard his name before, my sister told me that he’s the winner of the first series of
Connie is a talented girl, and I love hearing her sing Somewhere over the Rainbow, so I was quite curious about this Paul guy. So I visit the link and suddenly I found myself crying my eyes out. It was beautiful! I don’t really know why, but I felt very much moved by Paul’s audition where he sings Nessun Dorma, an operatic aria from Turandot. There’s something about the way he sings that felt like magic. I think he really gave his all, singing that audition. Especially when I heard him told them about his lack of confidence, how his singing is his solace whenever he got bullied. In a way, he relates to all of us, who at a point in our life felt the same way as he did. And that, coupled with his amazing way of singing, touch me in a way I never felt before. And I believe many people felt the same way, too.
Paul Potts changes many lives with his singing. His, mine, and I believe, many more lives too. I wish him all the best on his newfound life. Thank you for teaching me to dream and hope again. God bless you, Paul Potts.
